Surely he has borne our grief
and carried our sorrows ...
He was wounded for our transgressions
he was buried for our iniquities
upon him was the chastisement that made us whole
and with his stripes we are healed.

"Ecce homo!" cried out Pilate, hoping that the sight of him would move the crowds to ask for a dismissal of the charges. But this man, will be rejected by the crowds, incited by the Pharisees, will choose Barabbas, a criminal and a rabble-rouser.

Ecce homo -- the Word made flesh came unto his own, but his own accepted him not. He is the stone rejected by the builders who will become a new cornerstone for a new spiritual edifice.
